Operators, we thank the great number of you that have already registered and set up your inspections. For those who have not registered and inspected, it’s not too late!
Get on the short-term rental inspection calendar by calling City Hall today! There are a limited amount of time slots available. For more info about the regulations and requirements to operate a short term rental in Dunsmuir’s modern day click here > short term rental info to learn more. City wishes to help all operators with coming into compliance with the new ordinance. As we ease into the regulations… We urge operators to become compliant before enforcement measures are enacted. Please phone City Hall with any questions 235-4822 Most questions can likely be answered by visiting the short term rental info page on our website, linked above and by reading the Ordinance yourself.
Step 1: Complete the City’s Short-Term Rental Registration online form, and submit the $370 fee. This registration must be renewed annually.
Step 2: Complete the TOT registration form. While Airbnb collects and remits TOT on behalf of Hosts in Dunsmuir, the City requires this information and sworn statement that Hosts are aware of these taxes.
Step 3: Complete a Business License application, marking Classification A. Then mail to the City of Dunsmuir (5915 Dunsmuir Ave, Dunsmuir, CA 96025) along with applicable fees, or email (adminasst@ci.dunsmuir.ca.us) and pay by phone (Don’t forget the mandatory $4 disability fee)
Step 4: Schedule and pay for fire inspection by calling (530) 235-4822 ex.t 102 or emailing adminasst@ci.dunsmuir.ca.us. Submit the completed inspection form to the City
Step 5: Once you receive your Short-Term Rental Registration number from the City, remember to add it to your listing advertisement, wherever you advertise or list your rental.

Siskiyou County households who income qualify and have had a negative financial impact due to COVID-19 may be eligible for assistance with unpaid mortgage or utility payments through the Community Development Block Grant COVID-19 (CDBG-CV) Subsistence Payment Program.
Qualified households can receive up to:
$900 total covering past and current utility bills
$3,000 total in past and current mortgage payments.
To receive assistance, you must meet the program requirements and complete and submit all required documentation before June 30, 2023. Funds are available until expended or June 30, 2023.

Job Description: The City of Dunsmuir, a creative and active community nestled along the banks of the Upper Sacramento River in a mountain environment, is looking for a Utilities Maintenance Worker. Under direct supervision, perform semi-skilled duties in the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, as well as the City’s Water system. Home of the BEST water on EARTH.
Qualifications: •
Training and Experience – High School graduate. Experience in wastewater treatment plant environment preferred
• Must become, or already be, certified as a wastewater treatment plant operator within first year of employment
• Must pass a drug screen and other pre-employment checks
• Have and maintain a valid driver’s license
• Position may include working weekends, holidays, and night shifts
• Applicant must find residence within 30 minutes of Treatment Plant within six months of employment
The position is open until filled
Salary range is $20.43- $21.69 depending on qualifications/certificates, plus benefits.
There is additional pay for certificate holders.

The City of Dunsmuir wishes to remind residents that during snow accumulation of 3” or more City crews plan to plow the public streets. Per City Code 10.04.010 - Parking restrictions:
“It is unlawful for any person, corporation, or other entity in control of any motor vehicle to park such motor vehicle on any public street in the city during any snowstorm of three inches or more of snow, and/or during snow removal operations.”
The City of Dunsmuir will be towing vehicles that remain on public streets prior to snow removal operations.
The City would like to direct residents that do not have off-street parking available at their residence to navigate to the following City-owned parking lots:
Either the north or south side of City Hall at 5915 Dunsmuir Ave
The Amtrak parking area on Sacramento Ave at Pine St.
The parking area outside the Ball Park and Community Building - 4841 Dunsmuir Ave
The area to the south of the Children’s Park, next to the cyclone fence, near Benson Roofing property on Dunsmuir Ave

Two citizen positions are open to serve on DPAC. The purpose of this committee is to advise City Council on how to prepare for, mitigate, respond to, and recover from natural disasters that could impact the City of Dunsmuir. The terms of the appointed positions are through March of 2025. DPAC meets the 4th Thursday of the month at 6pm.
