Every entity doing business within City limits (including REGISTERED operators of short-term rentals) must have a valid business license. These are good for one year, they expire end of June each year. Click the button above to download and turn in with your fee, check payable to City of Dunsmuir. MAIL to: 5915 Dunsmuir Ave, Dunsmuir, CA 96025. You may also email the completed application BUT only if it also includes the Credit Card Authorization Form as well. Email application to: adminasst@ci.dunsmuir.ca.us for processing. Find the fee using the chart on the 2nd page of the application. Don’t forget to add the $4 mandatory state disability fee and indicate the type of business! Your Business License will be mailed to you at the address you indicate on the form or you may check the box for it to be emailed to you.

Every short-term rental or lodging establishment within City Limits must register with City of Dunsmuir and collect a transient occupancy tax of 12% (10% to City + 2% to County) on behalf of their guests. Please click on the button above to download, print and fill out this form. Return to City Hall for processing. A quarterly transient occupancy tax reporting form will be sent to the owner/operator to report on gross receipts.

As an operator of a hotel/motel/short-term rental you must collect Transient Occupancy Taxes and every quarter, report on gross receipts to the City of Dunsmuir, EVEN IF YOU ONLY LIST ON AIRBNB. Those short term rental operators who solely list with AirBnb are given an area on the form to indicate as such. AirBnb will remit TOT taxes on your behalf, all other listings must collect TOT taxes and remit directly to the City of Dunsmuir on a quarterly basis.

On August 19th, 2021 City Council unanimously passed the Short Term Rental Ordinance 570. To give operators time to come into compliance, these regulations will not be enforced until January 1, 2022. Click the button above to view the registration, inspection and other requirements.
