Thanks to the Firewise discount, residents have reported up to $200 in savings on their insurance premiums, but unfortunately, Fair Plan residents have been denied this discount. The City reached out to the California Department of Insurance (CDI) about this issue, and CDI contacted the Fair Plan, and the problem has now been resolved. Click to read more.

Happy 4th of July to All
"The increasing fire danger posed by dead grass and hotter, drier conditions in the region is prompting CAL FIRE to suspend all burn permits for outdoor residential burning within the State Responsibility Area of Siskiyou County. This suspension takes effect July 1, 2023, and bans all residential outdoor burning of landscape debris such as branches and leaves."
**CITY OF DUNSMUIR HAS ALREADY SUSPENDED THESE WITHIN CITY LIMITS ***

Under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, $62 billion was allocated for broadband investment across the United States. In order to receive individual allocations, each state must implement a comprehensive engagement effort that seeks input from residents and incorporates that input into a State Plan. The more input, feedback, and involvement from the residents of the state, the more likely each state is to maximize the dollars they receive from the federal government that will lead to deploying broadband infrastructure and establishing digital equity. This could mean investment (or not) in your communities.
The California Department of Technology is developing the state’s digital equity portion of the state plan that will determine how much of the $62 billion will be allocated to California. Part of their community engagement effort in development of the state plan involves distribution and participation in a brief (10 minutes), anonymous survey by at least 250 residents from each rural county. In the case of Siskiyou County, 3 surveys have been received!
Do your part to make sure broadband internet is available to all!
Due to Construction - ACCESS to Botanical Gardens will be closed to vehicular traffic Tuesday, June 27th, 2023.

CalTrans will be making repairs to the roadway sinkhole that developed on Mott Road, north Dunsmuir.
The sinkhole repair work is expected to take place over the next 10-14 days.
Hope is that Mott Rd will be open for the 4th of July holiday Weekend.
Please STAY OUT of this area until road barriers are removed and the road is officially open.
Please show respect for your CalTrans crew as they make necessary road repairs for the community.
Slow for the Cone Zone.
Please be advised there is Electrical Work going on Scherrer Ave which has limited the road to one way traffic control.
Remember to slow for the Cone Zone
California Digital Equity Plan Public Survey . The State of California is designing solutions to ensure all Californians have access to high-quality and affordable internet service, devices, skills training, and digital support. This survey will gather information about your current experiences using the internet. The survey is completely anonymous and should be completed by one individual per household. Your feedback is vital to understanding barriers to internet access, affordability, and adoption to help close the digital divide. In advance, thank you for your time and participation.
