The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Dunsmuir/Mt. Shasta from 5 AM Wednesday until 5 AM Thursday.
1 to 8” of snow is forecast below 4,000ft in Dunsmuir/Mt. Shasta through Thursday morning. You can find the latest National Weather Service forecast here (link). Rain will change to snow sometime Wednesday evening or Wednesday night in Dunsmuir, sooner for Mt. Shasta.
Snowplow operations will begin if and when 3+ inches of snow accumulates on City streets, which will most likely occur overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning.
Snow plow operations may extend beyond Thursday morning as snow levels are likely to stay low through Friday evening.
If and when snowplow operations begin, vehicles must be removed from city streets so that snow removal operations happen as quickly and safely as possible. Residents may park their vehicles in the parking lots on either side of City Hall, the parking spots next to Children’s Park, or the Baseball Field Parking lot.
Cars left on city streets may be ticketed or towed if they interfere with snow removal operations. Thank you for helping us ensure snowplow operations can occur quickly and safely.
Downed trees, powerlines, and other issues should be reported to Siskiyou County Dispatch: 530-841-2900.
