The Siskiyou Fire Safe Council and The McConnell Foundation have received two separate Wildfire Mitigation Grants to do FREE wildfire mitigation work on private property to help protect our City.
The grants will bring millions of dollars in wildfire mitigation work to residents, but you must sign up so the money doesn’t go to waste.
The first project, run by the Siskiyou County Fire Safe Council, will focus on the east side of the Sacramento River from the Tauhindauli Park down to just south of the Shasta County line.
The project will establish a fuel break along roadways to help stop future wildfires and create defensible space around homes to help save them in a wildfire.
The second project, run by The McConnell Foundation will focus on large privately owned parcels surrounding the City of Dunsmuir to help reduce the risk a wildfire makes it into the City.
Both projects will work with each landowner individually to ensure they are satisfied with the final product.
The Wildfire Projects webpage has more information on each project, including detailed project maps to see if you are within their project area and information on signing up for the projects; click the Learn More button below.
