This week, a contractor on behalf of Union Pacific sent out letters to five properties impacted by minor changes to the Special Flood Hazard Area resulting from the Union Pacific Railroad Railyard Project.
The focus of the Union Pacific Railroad Railyard Project has been to stop, control, and contain the oil discharge from the railyard. In the process, the floodplain has been restored, resulting in additional river capacity and slightly reducing the risk of future flooding.
Additionally, updated hydraulic modeling, topographic mapping data, and new modeling software resulted in some minor positive and negative net changes to the mapped floodplain.
These changes only impact a handful of properties directly adjacent to the railyard, and those impacted will receive a letter.
