1) Public Works: Down one worker again due to fire-fighting duties; drainage work and prepping city for winter; installed bear proof waste receptacle at Hedge Creek Falls and relocated the old waste receptacle; swept downtown sidewalks; cut weeds and cleaned along Sacramento Ave; bridge inspections completed with Caltrans for Butterfly Bridge and Shasta Retreat; cut limbs in preparation for the bridge inspections; set locates for power pole replacement project; prepared streetlight repair list; new sprinkler timer installed at Children’s Park; ran sweeper; worked with community service crew at the cemetery; responded to emails and phone calls.
2) City Manager: In ternal discussions with Code Enforcement and Building Inspector about scheduling inspections of vacant and distressed buildings; Solid Waste Ad Hoc Committee; work on Interim City Manager contract; communications with HCD and work regarding CV 1,2,3 and EDBG Microenterprise; estimates to fix library roof and to install mini-splits in council chambers/police sub-station using stimulus funds; worked with Dunsmuir Community Resource Center on lost revenue/increased costs during height of pandemic-to be reimbursed through Covid relief funds; met with UP senior manager in charge of mitigating contaminants at UP Yard and seeping into river-received verbal agreement that a representative would present plans and answer questions at an upcoming Council meeting; reviewed recording of Richard Dinge’s presentation regarding development on airport property; meetings with Mike Rodriguez-wants to renew Parks and Recreation contract with the City; posted Public Work’s Supervisor and PW’s Director positions; attended Association of California Airport’s Conference; spoke to representative from Amtrak in response to letter sent by Council to Passenger Rail Association; Phone Calls to State Parks-received ok to purchase property prior to full approval from State (guaranteed grant); water infrastructure replacement work; completed annual review forms for the State Water Resources Board.
3) Wastewater Dept: Daily and weekly sampling/monitoring completed; continued O.I.T. training with our newest employee, Mark; inspected manholes and lift stations; locates complete for PP&L contractor (pole replacement project).
4) Water Dept: Continued work with contractor on water main replacement; assisted with tie-ins to new water mains; water main replacement work; continued locating water lines along Simpson Ave.; locates done for PP&L contractor; weekly springs check-in good working order; monthly meter reading; continued with meter change outs ( less than 300 to go); disconnected 4" on Hemlock to complete water main work; North Dunsmuir streets are all online and connected to new system.
5) Finance: Accounts payable; accounts receivable; payroll, utility billing, audit prep; fuel cards renewal; Butterfly Bridge Grant work; processed grant reimbursement with FAA; administration of water grants; IRWM Grant administration.
6) Fire Department: For the period, the department responded to (16) dispatches, (6) EMS, (1) other type call, (4) Other type Fires, (4) Traffic Accident, (1) Structure Fire/Automatic Aid to Mount Shasta FD; weekly fire department training-personnel performed maintenance on all department Self Contained Breathing Apparatus; all equipment and apparatus are in good working order; entered run reports into computer data base; attended monthly Dunsmuir Fire Protection District Meeting; the department continued to support the Monument Fire with personnel and a fire engine.
