Street Paving Continues along Dunsmuir Ave, Oct. 3-5

As the water main replacement project wraps up for winter… expect repaving on our main drag.
Dunsmuir Ave, repaving to take place Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday of next week. October 3rd, 4th, 5th
Please slow for the Cone Zone and be courteous to the road crew making improvements to your town.
Expect traffic control and delays are possible at this time.
Attention: Dunsmuir street paving
As Dunsmuir’s water main replacement project wraps up for winter, a contractor will begin repaving select streets.
Expect repaving to start Tuesday, September 27th on Orange St, then to Olive, Castle, Vista and Cedar Street if time allows.
There will be detours, traffic control and occasional closures during this time.
Final day of work for those street sections is expected on Monday, October 3rd.
Please be courteous to the road crew, Slow for the Cone Zone!

Wood chips are available, free of charge, to Dunsmuir residents only. Load and Haul your own.

Please be mindful of Union Pacific Traffic AND Cross Traffic. Choo Choo !!!!
Look for the wood chip pile and load as many as you would like. The pile will be marked to assist you in finding it.

Water curtailment - effective 7/7/22
The California State Water Resource Control Board has curtailed the City of Dunsmuir water right effective 7/7/22. This means Dunsmuir Muni Code 13.06 is now active. even numbered houses limited to watering lawns on Saturday and Wednesday for 30 minutes each day, and odd numbered houses limited to watering lawns on Sundays and Thursdays for 30 minutes each day.

The closure will be from Pine to Cedar Streets only

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a Municipal Election, consolidated with the General Election will be held in the City of Dunsmuir on November 8, 2022, for the purpose of electing three City Council Members for four-year terms ending in 2026.
Nomination papers will be available beginning Monday, July 18, 2022 through Friday, August 12, 2022 in the office of the Dunsmuir City Clerk, 5915 Dunsmuir Ave., Dunsmuir, CA during regular business hours, or by calling 530-235-4822. Completed papers must be filed in the office of the Siskiyou County Clerk, 311 Fourth Street, Room 201, Yreka, CA; no later than 4:00 pm. on August 12, 2022. For further information, contact the County Clerk’s Office at 530-842-8084 or the Dunsmuir City Clerk at 530-235-4822.

Due to drought and extremely high fire danger, The City of Dunsmuir, City Council, has ordered a total ban on fireworks, including Safe and Sane fireworks.
Record heat and extreme drought have caused several cities in southwest Washington, Oregon and California to ban fireworks this Fourth of July, citing wildfire concerns.

Due to extreme drought conditions, the City of Dunsmuir is encouraging residents to practice voluntary water conservation. Do your part in conserving water. Turn off the faucet while brushing teeth, take showers of 5 minutes or less, and if watering your garden, do so in the early morning or late evening hours.
