River Ave is currently closed to RESIDENT TRAFFIC ONLY until 9/24/21. If you do not live on River Ave, please do not attempt to drive through this area. Paving over the water main replacement areas is underway. Residents of River Ave please use caution when driving through the area, there are open trenches and heavy equipment present. ARTICLE 1. Authority to Remove Vehicles 22651.  

A regularly employed and salaried employee, who is engaged in directing traffic or enforcing parking laws and regulations, of a city, county, or jurisdiction of a state agency in which a vehicle is located, may remove a vehicle located within the territorial limits in which the officer or employee may act, under the following circumstances:

(o) (1) If a vehicle is found or operated upon a highway, public land, or an offstreet parking facility under any of the following circumstances:

(A) With a registration expiration date in excess of six months before the date it is found or operated on the highway, public lands, or the offstreet parking facility.

The City of Dunsmuir wishes to notify you of a Public Hearing before the City Council on October 21st, 2021, at 6:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, 5902 Dunsmuir Ave, Dunsmuir, CA 96025 to discuss proposed water and sewer rate increases that if approved, will commence on November 1, 2021 and continue through October 31, 2026

A copy of this notice was mailed with Utility Bill of September 1st, 2021. You may read a copy of this notice and the proposed rate increases, by clicking the button below.

Street Light out?

The City of Dunsmuir wishes to get community involvement regarding any street lights you may have noticed out in your neighbor hood. Please let City of Dunsmuir know the location of any street lights which are out by noting the street name and approximate block number or closest cross street. The City will compile a list and cross check with any known outages to rectify. You may list your outage in the comments below or by phoning (530) 235-4822 ext 102.

STREET CLOSURE - DUNSMUIR AVE AND CEDAR STREETS - 8/27 - FRIDAY

ATTENTION DUNSMUIR RESIDENTS!

A movie crew is in town and there will be a hard road closure and parking closure for

potions of Dunsmuir Ave and Cedar Streets,

Tomorrow, Friday August 27th, 2021.

Parking restrictions are in place from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Hard road closure from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

CLOSURES WILL BE IN THE FOLLOWING SECTIONS:

Dunsmuir Ave from Burger Barn north to Pine Street

AND

Cedar Street from Dunsmuir Ave to Sacramento Ave.

See Map for picture of closures. Red sections are where the parking and road closures can be expected.

There will be a road block at Oak St to prevent folks from coming north up Dunsmuir Ave and getting turned around after reaching Burger Barn. Residents living NORTH of Oak Street and SOUTH of Burger Barn, will need to show proof of residency to drive north of Oak St to park at their properties.

Pedestrians will be free to walk into the businesses / along the street at the closed sections

Motorists will be offered a detour around the closure.

Repaving along Dunsmuir Ave - begins Monday, August 23rd - Street Closures

Attention Dunsmuir Residents!

Beginning the week of Monday, August 23rd you may experience intermittent traffic delays along Dunsmuir Ave, from Oak Street continuing south to Grover as crews work to repave this section of street. There will be a hard closure of this section Monday. Look for a detour down Sheriff’s Hill to Sacramento Ave all the way to Grover to get around the hard closure. See map, red is the area of hard closure, yellow highlights the detour around.

After Monday, all throughout the week thereafter, there will be one way traffic control as paving operations continue South. Expect one lane traffic control all the way south on Dunsmuir Ave to Manfredi’s.

Crews thank you for your patience as the road repaving phase of the operation commences.

ALERT! Pacific Power has now updated Warning to a Full Power Shutoff @ 3:30 P.M.

Pacific Power has indicated they will be initiating a full Public Safety Power Shutoff, beginning at 3:30 p.m. , August 17th, 2021. We expect a full power shutdown for the The City of Dunsmuir. Expect your power to be shut off completely starting at 3:30 p.m. until further notice. Expectations are that there will be no electricity available to you during this time. This was initiated due to increased fire danger in our area and is a preventative measure to avoid wildfires.

A cooling center will be available from 3:30 - 10:00 p.m. to those that need it. The cooling center will be located at Dunsmuir Community Resource Center, 5840 Dunsmuir Ave. Phone: (530) 235-4400

Pacific Power has issued a Public Safety Power Shutoff WARNING

Pacific Power has notified the City that we are under a Public Safety Power Shutdown Watch between 5 pm and 11 pm this evening. A cooling center will be set up starting at 2:00 pm just in case the PSPS is activated. Please check back periodically as we will make updates when we receive them from Pacific Power.
