The City has retained Kosmont Companies, an economic development and real estate advisory consultant that has worked with dozens of cities across California, to assist in conducting research and developing the economic strategy.  Kosmont representatives facilitating the workshop include Senior Managing Director Gary Milliman and Vice President Robert Valenti.

Milliman served for over 40 years as a City Manager, Urban Renewal Director and Railroad President.  He served as City Manager in the cities of Brookings, OR, and in Fort Bragg, South Gate, Cotati and Bell Gardens, CA., where his primary focus was in building stronger economic bases.  Milliman also served as President/CEO of California Western Railroad, the operator of the historic “Skunk Train” based in Fort Bragg and Willits.

Valenti’s focus is on supporting public and private sector clients with market and economic analyses, strategic planning and real estate development advisory.  Valenti served as a principal economic and policy analyst for Rhode Island’s Office of Management and Budget where he was responsible for conducting economic and regulatory impact analyses.

The meeting will begin with a brief report on a preliminary analysis of economic challenges and opportunities in Dunsmuir.

“We are hoping to gather information and insights from the community to help guide us in developing a useful plan that fits the Dunsmuir community,” Milliman said.
